Chenla Theatre is originally opened in 1969 as the Cinéma d’Etat (State Cinema), the Chenla Theatre underwent a complete facelift in 2002, becoming part of the Phnom Penh Cultural Centre Cambodia.

Brutalism is derived from the French term, beton brut, which translates to “rough concrete”.

At the moment the adjacent Crystal dome is being dismantled. I had the lucky opportunity to walk by and capture these hidden gems in the very busy neighbourhood of Doeurm Kor Market-Chenla Market in Phnom Penh.
